The Oxford University Geography Society is a vibrant and growing society which engages in careers fairs, speaker series and social events on a regular basis. We have strong links with the School of Geography and Environment here at the University, which came top in the world for geography in the 2019 QS World Rankings. In addition, we also engage with student societies at the University with similar interests such as the Geological Society, Climate Network and History Society as well as various sustainable student groups wherein we partner in events. Therefore, we have a wide outreach that we have carefully fostered over multiple years.

We are constantly looking to expand membership and forge interdisciplinary links between geography and other subject-based societies. Sponsorship money would be used to organise wide-reaching social events and higher status speaker series as part of our ongoing membership drive. In addition, having a relationship with industries or organisations would greatly help our careers and events goals, as we constantly seek speakers, career-related event stands and opportunities for our members.

Much of the feedback we receive from our members is closer engagement with industry leaders. To this end, members would be very willing to engage in careers-based activities and a CV Bank can be set up if this would be beneficial. Our members as well as interested students of Oxford University are extremely keen for opportunities to foster connections or gain valuable information and experience within different industries- many students look to the Geography Society for such opportunities or information.

 

Society sponsorship would also offer brand value – as part of the agreement, we are happy to add promotional material at our speaker events and to all our social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and of course, this website. This combined with our mailing list leads to an average outreach of over 800 people. In addition, we would be happy to forward promotional information to our members.
